Nathaniel Albers

Associate

Nathaniel provides research and analysis services for process evaluations and market research projects related to energy efficiency and renewable resource programs. He has 20 years of research experience, including 18 years in energy efficiency, especially focusing on new construction, commercial, and industrial programs. Additionally, Nathaniel has evaluated and researched ways energy efficiency programs can better serve traditionally underserved populations. 

Nathaniel primarily uses qualitative research methods including designing questionnaires and conducting in-depth interviews. He has conducted hundreds of interviews with program staff, participants, contractors, designers, engineers, and others to understand all aspects of a how each group experiences a program. Additionally, Nathaniel has designed, programmed, and fielded multiple surveys and has analyzed survey results to help inform programs about market conditions, program satisfaction, and other topics. 

Prior to working on understanding the demand side of the energy field, Nathaniel conducted program evaluation, policy analysis, and spatial analysis across a range of subject areas, including energy, healthcare, and public safety.  

His research experience includes multiple projects for program administrators in the northwest, including Avista, Energy Trust of Oregon, and NEEA. He enjoys the challenge of organizing, analyzing, and presenting data that can inform both program and policy decisions.  

 

Before joining Apex, Nathaniel was a senior analyst at Qualus (formerly ADM Associates) and a managing consultant at Opinion Dynamics (formerly Research Into Action). Nathaniel has a master’s degree in Geography and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
